I always get slightly irritated when I hear people say that war never solves anything, as if wars are not consequential. It is closer to the mark to say that war only occasionally directly produces the outcomes that its main causal sponsor was seeking or hoping for, but war has many consequences in the world, and sometimes definitely changes an existing status quo.
